The IDR13 billion building is opened by the Rector and Dean of the Faculty, Dr. drh. Joko Prastowo, owner of PT Eka Farma, drh. Eko Nugroho, chairman of veterinary alumni association, Gamavet, drh. Dwi Restu Seta, and Commisioner of PT BP Kedaulatan Rakyat, Drs. Romli.
Dwikorita Karnawati in her opening remarks appreciated the completion of the new building for veterinary services at UGM. She hoped this would also increase the human resource performance. “From this building I hope collaborations in education and research can be made, done under internationally accredited management,” she said on Tuesday (10/11).
Joko Prastowo said the new hospital would increase services in terms of education and research. Annually, the Prof. Soeparwi Hospital receives 7,000 in-patients. They also give services in blood test, USG, EKG, health treatment, etc. The inauguration of the new hospital will support the efforts made by the Faculty to obtain an international accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS). “Faculty of Veterinary Sciences has initiated the application for international accreditation, there will be assesments to get such accreditation,” he said.
Currently, said Joko, the Hospital served as a reference for national and international establishments related to veterinary tropical diseases and veterinary public health. In addition, the Faculty has collaborated with University of Sydney Australia in student exchange, also with Thailand.
Chairman of Gamavet, Drh. Dwi Restu Seta, said the alumni association would be ready to assist the services for society. “Constructing a building is easy to do, but implementing the vision and mission of the establishment is one thing necessary, too. All alumni will do their best so that this Hospital can run well in the future,” she said.
