The Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA), and Virtual KAGAMA community from November 13th-15th hosted a social event entitled “Our Dedication to Karimunjawa”. As many as 86 people participated, departing  from Kartini Harbour in Jepara, Central Java, to Karimunjawa islands on Friday (11/13).

Present and officially opening the event was KAGAMA Chairman who is also the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo. Also present was Jepara Regent, H. Achmad Marzuki, S.E., and the head of Karimunjawa caretaker, Heri Kustanto, S.T.

We hope that Karimunjawa can well develop its tourism potential, yet maintaining their own local culture,” Ganjar said.
After the opening ceremony, Ganjar Pranowo visited patients in the local health community centre followed by a visit to the beach to free some sea turtles. This animal is protected by law No. 7 year 1999 on the preservation of plant and animal species that must be protected due to extinction.

On this occasion,  Ganjar Pranowo also saw the coral reef that has been grown since 28 October by the UGM diving team.  The aim is to move the coral that has been planted into the nursery ground.

Meanwhile, for the health program, UGM Task Force has provided free health services to communities around Karimun. In one day there were approximately 215 patients for dental checks, ENT obsgyn, and general check up.

Dental examination was also conducted at an elementary school and attended by 300 people with 150 patients being treated. The medical team brought 2 obstetricians, 1 ENT doctors, and 10 dentists. (Adel)
