Up until Wednesday (18/5) at 10.45 hours, applicants to SBMPTN 2016 (national selection test to state universities) for Local Committee 46 (Panlok) 46 through the Paper Based Testing (PBT) mechanism have reached 30,321 people. For Science-technology category at UGM, the number of applicants is 13,137, Socio-humanities category at UPN and UNY is 14,419, and mixed category at UIN is 2,765. For Computer Based Testing (CBT), the capacity has reached a full 100% in the third day of registration at UGM (capacity 100) and UNY (capacity 200).

“So, until the D-2 of closing date, PBT applicants are 30,321 people,” said Secretary of Local Committee 46 Yogyakarta, Dr. agr. Ir. Sri Peni Wastutiningsih, on Wednesday (18/5).

She reinstated the SBMPTN 2016 will apply two test methods, Paper Based Testing (PBT) and Computer Based Testing (CBT). PBT is for all categories of sciences (socio-humanities, science-tech, and mixed) while CBT is only for socio-humanities and science-tech.

“For the CBT method, only some 30 of 78 state universities are appointed as administrators. For Local Committee 46, UGM and UNY are appointed as organisers,” she added.

Peni said the registration requirement and study programme choices were not much different from last years’. As many as three study programmes can be selected. If applicants choose only one study programme, they may choose any state university.

"For those that choose two or three study programmes, one of those has to be in the same region with the applicant’s venue for written tests,” she added.

SBMPTN is for students from SMA/MA, SMK/MAK 2016, also graduates from years 2014 and 2015. Registration starts from 25 April to 20 May 2016. Tests for PBT and CBT methods are on 31 May 2016. Further details can be seen at sbmptn.ac.id. Meanwhile, tests for skills in the Arts and Sports study programme are from 1-2 June 2016, held at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The results of SBMPTN will be announced on 28 June 2016
