Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Baitulmaal Muamalat institution have agreed to establish a collaboration in education, research, and community service. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UGM Vice-Rector of Cooperation and Alumni, Dr. Paripurna, S.H, M.Hum., LLM., and Executive Director of Baitulmaal Muamalat, Bambang Kusnadi, on Tuesday (14/11) at UGM.
During the event, a donation of funds worth Rp67,250,000 was made to help build the mosque in the Economics and Business hall of UGM Vocational School. The donation was made symbolically by Bambang Kusnadi to Dean of the School, Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., M.Sc.,Ph.D.
Bambang Kusnadi said Baitulmaal Muamalat is a national alms institution established by Muamalat Bank. It aims at collecting alms that can benefit the community.
“We want to collaborate with UGM for this distribution. Hopefully, in the future real programme can be formed that can empower the community and alleviate poverty,” he said.
UGM Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Alumni, Dr. Paripurna, S.H, M.Hum., LLM., welcomed the cooperation. The collaboration with Baitulmaal Muamalat is expected to be able to encourage the religious character of the student.
“To build the character of the young generation needs religious strengthening, and the presence of Baitulmaal Muamalat can hopefully encourage the religious character of students, not just to pursue knowledge for their future,” he said.
