A total of 11 startups participating in the National Movement of 1000 Digital Startups for Yogyakarta region succeeded in entering the incubation stage after previously passing the Ignition, Networking, Workshop, Hacksprint, and Bootcamp selection stages. “Eleven startups with well-planned ideas, business models, and development will soon enter the incubation stage,” stated UGM Director of Business Development and Incubation, Dr. Hargo Utomo, M.B.A., M.Com., Thursday (10/18) at UGM.

According to Hargo, this is a more intense stage for startups to realize their ideas. “This is the stage for us to become a Unicorn startup.”

At UGM, the incubation program of Innovative Academy has entered its 6th year and is expected to be a forum for startups to make sustainable innovations. “We hope that every startup can renew its ideas and improve its business concept,” he continued.

Sebastian Alex Dharmawangsa, Project Manager of the National Movement of 1000 Digital Startups and Head of Outreach Innovative Academy, explained the incubation is the most challenging stage for startups to pass. “However, every startup will be assisted by experienced mentors,” he added.

Head of Multi-Media School, Indonesian Communication and Information Ministry, Ir. Noor Iza, M.Sc., said the 1000 startups movement is expected to grow startups that can support national development programs in the future.

Startups that successfully pass the incubation stage and are able to enter the market will advance to the acceleration stage by PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari as the holding of startups under UGM. According to the director, Triasmono, several teams will get a golden ticket to enter the acceleration program. “The acceleration process will focus more on improving business, legal, and finance,” he concluded.
