YOGYAKARTA – Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., has asked UGM alumni to refrain from corruptive behaviours. In her opinion, success is not measured by the wealth they amass, but their roles and contributions to society and the nation.   “Success is not measured by how much their wealth is, even more so if amassed through corruptive behaviours, but by their role and contribution to the nation and humanity,” said the Rector to 1504 graduates from Sarjana and Diploma programmes that were inaugurated in Grha Sabha Pramana, Tuesday (17/2).

According to Dwikorita, refraining from getting illegal wealth is adhered to by everyone, including herself. UGM graduates are encouraged to live independently whilst sticking to good conduct. She quoted educator Ki Hajar Dewantara as saying “In carrying out a task, always be loyal and stick to principles, faithful that no other forces can withold nor distract us,” she said. UGM graduates are suggested by Dwikorita to be someone with good moral.
