Soal Kualitas SDM Perempuan, Rektor UGM: Perlu Kebijakan Terobosan

YOGYAKARTA - Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., has urged the government to be more actively increase the quality of female human resource. It is predicted that in the next four years the number of women will increase to 133.4 millions from the current figure of 127.7 millions. “Productive age and workforce will be more dominated by women,” said Rector in her remarks for the graduation ceremony of UGM graduate program in Grha Sabha Pramana on Thursday (23/4).

Citing the UNDP report, Dwikorita said Indonesia ranks 98 of 148 countries in gender injustices in terms of human resource.
According to Dwikorita, the government needs to make a breakthrough in this area. She expected the new UGM graduates to be more active in female human resource capacity building  in their respective professions. “(It is) by giving opportunities for women - at least they can have medium education, skills training and personal development, also support to women empowerment and their access to reproductive health services,” she said.

Universitas Gadjah Mada this time inaugurates a total of 1,478 people in master, specialist and doctoral programs.
