The Sub-Directorate of Student Character Development has organized the Leadership Attitude and Leadership Camp (LALC) as part of the Pelita Gadjah Mada Program (Strategic Student Leadership Acceleration Program).
The activity occurred in Karangrejek Tourism Village, Wonosari, Gunungkidul, from June 23rd to 25th, 2023. LALC is the program’s culminating event and was attended by 128 students.
One unique aspect of this activity is learning and interacting with the local community of Karangrejek Tourism Village. Over the course of three days and two nights, participants had the opportunity to experience village life and actively engage in the dynamics of the community by staying overnight in local households.
Through various sessions of materials, practical exercises, and discussions with inspirational figures, students were given a chance to explore their leadership potential. They developed leadership skills and gained long-term benefits before venturing into their respective communities.
“After participating in LALC, we hope that students will be ready to become leaders with good character, resilience, perseverance, willingness to share, and the spirit to inspire within their organizations or communities,” said Head of the Student Leadership Development Section, Rohmad.
The Leadership Attitude and Leadership Camp (LALC) also helps boost the existence of Karangrejek Tourism Village, pushing it forward and realizing its goal of becoming a place of shared learning.
The residents warmly welcomed the activity held by UGM. They were delighted because the activity brought positive economic impacts to the environment and the people of Karangrejek Village. The residents hope for future collaboration between Karangrejek Village and UGM, such as visits, activities, and other programs.
“We hope that Karangrejek Tourism Village can develop independently and provide positive impacts while remaining true to its initial vision and mission of being a place of learning and a leadership village. This activity also provides new knowledge and experiences for the community,” said the Head of Karangrejek Youth Organization, Erwin.
