Roomansa, a dynamic startup emerging from the UGM Innovative Academy, has secured $7,000 in funding at the prestigious Korea-Indonesia Startup Day event.
This impactful initiative is orchestrated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in collaboration with the Korea Trade-Investment and Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd (KOMIPO).
With the theme “Boosting Future Leaders of Indonesia” for the 2023 edition, Korea-Indonesia Startup Day is designed to propel Indonesian startups to compete nationally and to resonate globally.
Teten Masduki, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, inaugurated this event in Jakarta on Tuesday (Dec. 12).
The minister underscored the pivotal role that startups play in the economic landscape of Indonesia, presenting a golden opportunity to stimulate unprecedented growth. He emphasized that startups can effectively address longstanding economic disparities.
Participating in this prestigious event alongside four other startups—E-Has, Dif Marketer, Henbuk, and Biopener—Roomansa showcased its prowess as a platform dedicated to individual and family psychology consultations, learning, and discussions spanning various topics related to family dynamics, children, and personal development. The platform provides comprehensive services bolstered by a team of professional psychologists.
Each of these innovative startups, including Roomansa, was awarded a remarkable $7,000 in funding during the event to catalyze the growth of their enterprises.
“With this funding, it is hoped that the selected startups can develop and expand their impact on the wider community,” expressed Denny Wijayanto, Head of the Innovative Academy Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Wijayanto further highlighted the dynamic activities undertaken by Roomansa during the event, including pitching sessions and network building. Roomansa, securing the second position after E-HAS, delivered a compelling 10-minute pitch in English.
The atmosphere turned pleasantly informal as Renesa, the CEO, commenced the pitch in Korean with a warm “joh-eun achim-ieyo” (good morning).
“That means a good morning greeting. The activities continued and ended with networking attended by all guests and VIPs with a Gala Lunch concept, allowing Roomansa and other startups to continue pitching in a less formal setting,” shared Wijayanto.
Executive Vice President of KOMIPO, Kim Dong Jun, expressed delight at KOMIPO’s ongoing social initiatives, reaching out to startup businesses in Indonesia. These efforts align with the broader goals of sustainable development and the continuous collaboration between Korea and Indonesia.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to support startup companies here today. We believe these companies will continue to grow and become a significant pillar of Indonesia’s economy,” Kim remarked.
Likewise, the Director General of KOTRA Jakarta, Lee Janghee, emphasized KOMIPO’s instrumental role in supporting SMEs in Indonesia since 2018.
Notably, this year marks a significant leap, with the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, KOMIPO, and KOTRA venturing into a new phase of supporting startups in Indonesia. Currently, Indonesia holds the fourth global position and leads in Southeast Asia.
