A total of 16 members of the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat/MWA) for the 2026-2031 term have been officially appointed through a Special Plenary Meeting of the Academic Senate held on Friday (Apr. 24). This appointment marks an important step in ensuring the continuity of accountable university governance oriented toward the public interest.
Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee for the MWA member selection, Professor Deendarlianto, stated that the entire selection process was conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, namely UGM Board of Trustees Regulation No. 4 of 2022 concerning Amendments to UGM Board of Trustees Regulation No. 2 of 2021 on the Requirements and Procedures for the Selection of MWA Members. In addition, the selected members were approved by all plenary participants.
“A total of 82 members of the UGM Academic Senate cast their votes out of 88 members, and all stages were carried out in accordance with the established regulations,” he explained.
Professor Deendarlianto added that the selection process involved the collective efforts of many parties from the initial stages to the final appointment.
“Many individuals worked from morning until late at night. This process was not simple, but it reflects a shared commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of the selection,” he said.

The use of an application-based system in the voting process was also part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability. According to Professor Deendarlianto, the system had undergone verification by an expert team to ensure its reliability and security during implementation.
“We strive to ensure that every stage is conducted transparently, including the voting process, which was carried out systematically and verifiably,” he added.
Professor Deendarlianto noted that the 16 newly appointed MWA members represent diverse groups, including community leaders, alumni, non-professorial faculty members, professors, students, and educational staff. This composition is expected to strengthen the MWA’s role in overseeing UGM’s policy direction in the future.
The 16 appointed MWA members include representatives from the alumni group: Professor Sofyan Anif (Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong) and Mochamad Soleh (of the PLN Research and Development Center). From the community leaders group: Martin Basuki Hartono (CEO of GDP Venture), Alissa Qotrunnada Munawaroh Wahid (Chair of Tanfidziyah of PBNU), Professor Mohammad Nuh (Professor at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November), Dr. Suroso Isnandar (Director of Project Management and New and Renewable Energy at PT PLN Persero), Dr. Agus Taufiqurrohman (Muhammadiyah Central Board), and Professor Erwan Agus Purwanto (Deputy at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform).

Meanwhile, representatives from the professorial faculty are Professor Tumiran, Professor Agus Heruanto Hadna, and Professor Pujo Semedi Hargo Yuwono. The student representatives are Andi Batara Gemilang, and the university staff group is represented by Fitria Yuniarti.
