Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has qualified 43 teams from its Student Creativity Program (PKM) for the 39th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), which will be held at Diponegoro University in Semarang, Central Java, from November 2–7, 2026. This achievement places UGM among the country’s universities with the most teams qualifying for PIMNAS, ranking first nationally this year.
Dr. Hempri Suyatna, Director of Student Affairs at UGM, said the achievement resulted from collaboration among students, academic supervisors, faculty advisors, and faculty support. He emphasized that synergy among these parties plays an important role in fostering student creativity and national-level achievement.
“The large number of PKM teams qualifying for PIMNAS reflects collaboration among students, supervisors, advisors, and the support provided by faculty. With limited time remaining, we hope the teams can prepare well and achieve the best possible results at the 39th PIMNAS,” Hempri said in an interview on Friday (October 16).
To keep this achievement, UGM continues to strengthen student mentoring at both the university and faculty levels. Hempri explained that its mentoring strategy also includes ongoing evaluation to ensure student support continues to improve.
“Our specific strategy is to strengthen mentoring at the university and faculty levels, while continually learning from and evaluating the efforts we undertake,” he said.
Beyond mentoring, UGM’s Directorate of Student Affairs provides various forms of support to help students complete their programs. This support includes mentoring, achievement incentives, funding assistance, and help with other needs to ensure activities run smoothly.
According to Hempri, this support reflects UGM’s commitment to nurturing students’ talents and creativity. With this assistance, students are expected to maximize their potential and prepare to compete at the national level.
At the 39th PIMNAS, UGM aims to reclaim the overall championship title and bring home the Adikarta Kertawidya trophy. Hempri hopes the large number of qualifying teams will give UGM a strong foundation to achieve the best possible results.
“We hope UGM can win the overall championship again. With so many teams qualifying, we hope they can perform at their best at the 39th PIMNAS,” he said.
This year, UGM’s 43 qualifying teams are distributed across nine PKM categories: three teams in the Entrepreneurship Program (PKM-K), nine in the Creation and Innovation Program (PKM-KC), two in the Innovative Work Program (PKM-KI), three in the Science and Technology Application Program (PKM-PI), three in the Community Service Program (PKM-PM), 11 in the Exact Sciences Research Program (PKM-RE), eight in the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Program (PKM-RSH), three in the Constructive Ideas Video Program (PKM-VGK), and one in the Written Futuristic Ideas Program (PKM-GFT).
Through continued mentoring and support across university units, UGM hopes all its teams can maximize their potential. Participation in PIMNAS is not only a competition but also an opportunity for students to develop creativity, research, and innovation that can potentially benefit society.
