A total of 520 archers representing 97 clubs from across Indonesia competed in the UGM Open Archery Championship (UOAC) Series 3, held at UGM’s Pancasila Stadium from July 8 to 12. The national tournament highlighted the organizational capacity of the UGM Archery Student Activity Unit (UKM Panahan UGM) while reinforcing Universitas Gadjah Mada’s role in supporting the development of archery in Indonesia.
UOAC Series 3 General Coordinator Kevin Febriano said this year’s championship featured eight competition categories covering various age groups and bow divisions: National U13, National U15, National Open, Recurve U15, Recurve Open, Compound U15, Compound Open, and Barebow Open. The tournament also included 45 team events and 60 mixed-team events.
According to Febriano, every category was highly competitive, with athletes delivering their best performances throughout the five-day championship before judges and spectators alike.
“The diversity of competition formats makes UOAC Series 3 an inclusive and representative event for Indonesia’s national archery ecosystem,” Febriano said on Friday (July 17).
Beyond competition, he said, the championship also served as a meeting point for Indonesia’s archery community. With participants representing 97 clubs from across the country, the event provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships while promoting the continued growth of the sport. He expressed hope that the UGM Open Archery Championship would continue to serve not only as a platform for athletic achievement but also as a venue for fostering camaraderie, expanding professional networks, and developing future archers.
“We hope the UGM Open Archery Championship will continue to grow with even greater enthusiasm, better organization, and achievements we can all be proud of. See you at the next UGM Open Archery Championship Series,” he said.
Febriano added that the successful staging of UOAC Series 3 marks another important milestone for the UGM Archery Student Activity Unit in building a strong and sustainable archery ecosystem in Indonesia. As participation continues to grow from one series to the next, he said the championship has become increasingly trusted by Indonesia’s archery community. At the same time, the organizing committee remains committed to continuously improving the quality of the event.
“The next UOAC Series is eagerly anticipated with even greater expectations, carrying forward the spirit and positive legacy we have built together throughout the championship’s journey,” he concluded.
