The entire UGM community extends its heartfelt condolences for the tragic incident that befell her.
Dean of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Jaka Widada, expressed his deep sorrow and condolences for Sheila’s passing and wished strength and patience for her family during this difficult time.
“We extend our deepest condolences for the passing of the late Sheila Amelia Christanti. May Allah SWT grant her the best place, and may all her good deeds be accepted,” said Dean Widada in a statement sent to the press on Sunday, Apr. 13, 2025.
Dean Widada also expressed gratitude to everyone who had assisted in the search for Sheila after she was reported missing.
“We would also like to thank all parties who have provided help,” he added.
As previously reported, Sheila was declared missing on Mar. 25, 2025.
The faculty and her family filed a missing person report on Mar. 26, 2025.
According to her parents, Sheila had planned to return home but never arrived, even after three days.
Investigations were carried out by the police and the faculty, seeking information about her whereabouts through student networks.
Her family also shared the news of her disappearance on social media but to no avail.
Tracking efforts revealed that Sheila left her boarding house alley on Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2025, at 11:03 a.m., as seen on CCTV footage.
She was last seen traveling from Seturan, Yogyakarta, toward Solo Street.
The last known information on the same day placed her in the Lawu area of Tawangmangu at around 3:00 p.m.
On March 29–30, 2025, her family searched the Sragen and Tawangmangu areas but found no trace of her.
Then, on Saturday, Apr. 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the Chief of Plaosan Police received a report of a body found in the Lawu Green Forest area of Magetan.
After an examination by medical personnel, the body was identified as Sheila, who had died in a single-vehicle accident.
According to witness reports, Sheila had crashed into a road sign and fallen into a ditch.
“The university, along with the Klaten, Magetan, and Madiun Police, the National Police Headquarters, volunteers, and media teams were constantly monitoring the situation. Yesterday afternoon, the Magetan intelligence team informed us about the discovery of Sheila,” Dean Widada stated.
Quiet and Diligent in Her Studies
Sheila was known for her reserved personality, yet she was always determined and diligent in her studies.
Her father, Suprapto, shared that he initially hoped his daughter would attend university in Madiun so she could stay close to home.
However, she surprised the family by announcing she had passed the entrance exam for UGM.
“She was quiet and independent. We only found out after she was accepted that she wanted to transfer schools,” Suprapto recalled.
Despite living far from home, Sheila pursued her studies with dedication in the socio-economics program at the UGM Faculty of Agriculture.
Her university friends also knew her as an active learner. She frequently participated in group projects and often answered lecturers’ questions. If any of her classmates had trouble with course material, Sheila was happy to help.
Her passing has left a deep sense of loss among her friends, peers, and family.
