The Scout Organization of Universitas Gadjah Mada officially inaugurated its new management team on Monday (Feb. 3) at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Center Hall (GIK UGM).
The UGM Scout team for the 2025 term consists of three primary teams: the Lokalogi team, the Public Relations and Protocol team, and the Business Entity of Racana (BUMR) team. Professor Tina Afiatin, the scout leader, inaugurated them all together.
In her address, Professor Afiatin stated that each team has its own main responsibilities and focuses on contributing to the environment and society.
“Whatever their work programs are, they must always align with these two things, namely the fundamental principles of scouting and the identity of UGM,” Professor Afiatin said in a statement sent to journalists on Monday (Feb. 10).
For example, the Lokalogi team is tasked with carrying out environmental and waste management activities.
Lokalogi was introduced as a community and student movement that encouraged and introduced waste management solutions to the broader community.
Interestingly, Lokalogi, which was launched in May 2024, has already significantly impacted waste management at various events at UGM, such as the Gelanggang Expo and Porsenigama.
Lokalogi recognizes that waste management remains a fundamental issue of waste accumulation on campus. Lokalogi has opened partnerships with events and organizations at UGM to support waste management during these events.
“This concrete step is also supported by seminars and discussions to strengthen the waste issue campaign,” Professor Afiatin said.
In addition to Lokalogi, the Public Relations and Protocol team was also established to support publicity and protocol during the implementation of work programs.
This team expands the previous Information Division. Furthermore, the Business Entity of Racana (BUMR) team was inaugurated to support entrepreneurship programs and replace the Household Division in managing assets at the UGM Scout Activity Center.
“All of these teams are part of the Racana Council’s Completeness Body to support the execution of work programs for the next period,” she explained.
During the inauguration process, the new management solemnly recited the Tri Satya. Professor Afiatin, as the leader, emphasized the importance of continuous creativity and innovation.
The work programs launched under the new management should also align with the basic principles of scouting and UGM’s values.
The UGM Scout Organization was first established on Aug. 15, 1981, as a leading organization for community service.
In line with national scouting principles, UGM Scouts also adhere to scouting values, including the satya (Scout Promise), dharma (Scout Law), and the scout method.
These fundamental principles, characteristics, values, and goals complete the path of the Scout Movement.
Not only as a platform for creativity and student movements, UGM Scouts are dedicated to fostering character, skills, and nationalism.
Scouting is often associated with outdoor activities like camping, knot-tying, recreation, etc. More than that, UGM Scouts are present and pioneered based on the spirit of strengthening service and contribution.
The hope is that the strengthening of character education in UGM Scouts will be a form of youth movement contribution to the nation and country through the spirit of scouting.
