According to a Q3 2023 poll conducted by RevoU, UGM’s (Universitas Gadjah Mada) Instagram and TikTok accounts were the most popular among the 15 top universities in Indonesia.
RevoU collected and compared data on social media followers, the number of posts on each university’s social media platforms, and content strategies.
The most recent data was collected on August 1, 2023, using the QS World Ranking 2024 to identify the top 15 universities in Indonesia.
UGM maintained its #1 position with the highest number of followers on Instagram, totaling 1,074,900 followers. Over the past year, UGM gained over 180,000 new followers and is the only university in Indonesia with 1 million followers.
UGM also leads in TikTok with 202,700 followers, making it the only university among the 15 to have garnered over 200,000 followers on the platform.
For Twitter (now X), UGM ranks second along with UI (University of Indonesia) with more than 1 million followers. On LinkedIn, UGM is second after UI, with 214,000 followers.
As for YouTube, UGM has 114,000 subscribers and ranks second, just behind ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology).
The Secretary of UGM, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, emphasized that UGM will continue to improve the performance of all its social media platforms to publish and disseminate information more effectively.
“We will continue to encourage strategic outreach to our audience so that all of UGM’s information and achievements are effectively communicated,” Dr. Tonralipu said on Sunday (September 3).
The secretary also expressed gratitude for the increased recognition of UGM’s social media platforms, highlighting the university’s achievements in several national-level public relations competitions.
