Universitas Gadjah Mada has grieved once again after one of its best lecturers, Prof. Dr. Soedijono Reksoprajitno, M.B.A., passed away on Thursday (7/9) at 11.45 hours in his home at Kayen I No 3C, Jalan Kaliurang Km 7, Yogyakarta. He is former Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM for the period of 1991-1994 and 1983-1990.
UGM academic community and family paid last respect to the deceased in a funeral ceremony on Friday (8/9) in Balairung UGM. Later, his body was brought to the UGM Sawitsari cemetery compound for funerals.
“UGM academic community is grieving because today, our teacher, leader, and one of the best people of UGM and Indonesia, is called home by God,” said Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng, in Balairung UGM, on Friday (8/9).
According to the Rector, Prof. Soedijono has deep commitment to Universitas Gadjah Mada and the nation. His love for knowledge gave a new, beneficial insight to the wider public both in Indonesia or international level.
His professorship inaugural speech in 1990 titled Overview of Foreign Exchange Systems that Have Been Adopted in Indonesia, according to the Rector, became a reminder for shareholders across Indonesia at that time to be able to produce suitable policy so that during the financial crisis in the 1990s, Indonesia finally survived.
“At that time world oil price was volatile due to the Gulf War crisis while Indonesia depended much on the foreign exchange generated by the world oil trade,” said Panut Mulyono.
The Rector added, the deceased was known as a highly dedicated lecturer and researcher in academics, proven by the numeorus works he had produced.
