YOGYAKARTA – Conductor of Twilite Orchestra, Addie Muljadi Sumaatmadja or Addie MS, will become a guest star in UGM student orchestra on Saturday (18/5) in Concert Hall, Taman Budaya Yogyakarta. Addie MS will present 2 repertoirs to 1,000 audience.
“I will conduct two songs, one is sung by Lea Simanjuntak, the other is an E.T. soundtrack,” said Addie MS in Tentrem Hotel, Yogyakarta, Friday (17/5).
The man born in Jakarta 53 years ago said this ws the first time he collaborated with students, which he welcomed. “It’s not often an education institution gives extracuricular activities in the form of orchestra. Compared to China, Japan, Korea and Singapore, our orchestra is still much left behind,” he said.
Chairman of Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra (GMCO), Radhi H. Kartowisastro, said the concert had the title “The World in Theatre”. Lasting for 2.5 hours, they will play 13 repertoirs from film soundtracks.
Radhi added the concert sponsored by BNI was expected to introduce GMCO to the wider public. GMCO will involve 70 musicians and 30 members of choir. “Up to 100 persons will perform, also assisted by UGM Marching Band and student choir from Faculty of Forestry,”
Coach of GMCO, Drs. Tri Kuntoro Priyambodo, M.Sc, said the concert invited Addie MS to share his experience with students. “We hope to encourage GMCO to be able to perform better,” he said.
