Strategic partnership became important for cooperation to speed up the achievement of health goals in the MDGs. One way is to alleviate poverty and hunger among disadvantaged people by halving the proportion of people with income of less than US$1 per day between year 1990 – 2015.
"Another way is by giving work opportunity to all, including women and young people. It can also be done by reducing by half of the proportion of people who suffer from hunger between year 1990 – 2015," said Prof. Dr. dr. Nila Moeloek Sp.M(K), in the first lecture of Public Health of UGM, Monday (18/9) at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta.
To some 226 new students of graduate school of Public Health study programme, Nila Moeloek said that the cross-sectoral partnership among stakeholders is very important as it will speed up achievement of MDGs target. Thus, rearrangement of priority, cooperation, synergy and harmonisation is required as well as use of IT to disseminate information and monitoring.
"Therefore, it is necessary to unite the private sector, civil society and government agencies to bring change to grassroots level in a number of locations in Indonesia," said Nila Moeloek, President’s Special Envoy for MDGs.
