Ruang Halal, one of the startups nurtured by the UGM Innovative Academy, participated as the university’s Startup Go Global Program representative, visiting Brisbane, Australia, from June 23 to 28.
The program, facilitated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, supported the optimization of local startups and expanded international collaboration networks for Indonesian incubator institutions.
Dedy, Ruang Halal’s CEO, expressed his happiness and pride in representing UGM in the Startup Go Global program. This program serves as a stepping stone for Ruang Halal to expand its reach further and strengthen its position on the international stage.
“We thank IA UGM for continuously supporting Ruang Halal, allowing us to participate in Startup Go Global,” said Dedy to reporters on Thursday (July 4).
Dedy explained that Ruang Halal operates in the halal economy sector. Its primary services include halal consultancy, a halal marketplace, and a halal export hub, which are available for free and through paid programs.
As a halal consultant, Ruang Halal facilitates various domestic and international business sectors such as MSMEs, Horeca, hospitals, and factories to obtain halal certification.
“For the halal marketplace, we facilitate these businesses in marketing their halal products and services, and the halal export hub service helps Indonesian MSMEs penetrate international markets,” he explained.
Established in 2020, Ruang Halal has helped around 300 MSMEs obtain halal certification for free. Additionally, their paid services have attracted numerous domestic and international clients, including restaurants, cafes, and factories.
In addition to representing UGM in the Startup Go Global program in Brisbane, Ruang Halal participated in the Indonesian Halal product exhibition in Brunei Darussalam from June 26 to 30, 2024.
The Indonesian Embassy facilitated this exhibition through the recommendation of KNEKS and in collaboration with the Rumah BUMN of Central Java Province.
Dedy stated that Ruang Halal’s achievements are closely tied to the role of the UGM Innovative Academy, which has supported Ruang Halal in becoming a player in the halal industry and helping the government’s program to make Indonesia a global halal center.
“Ruang Halal will continue to innovate and grow,” he concluded.
