A total of 254 prospective students from various regions across Indonesia participated in the 2025 Talent Scouting for Outstanding Students (PBUB) admissions track, which covered 32 categories in sports, arts, and science and technology, held at GOR Pancasila Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
UGM Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, stated that the PBUB track is intended for students who have achieved recognition or won competitions in the fields of sports, arts, or science and technology, aligned with the chosen study program.
“This track is a key part of UGM’s effort to open access for high-achieving students to pursue their studies at this university,” said Vice-Rector Sujito.
As a people’s campus, he added, UGM is committed to continuously supporting the development of talent and skills among prospective students.
The PBUB track is expected to become a pathway for young talents to further grow once accepted and enrolled at the university.
“We want this campus to be a place where student potential and diversity can flourish. PBUB is not only about admission into UGM, but also about how achievements are further nurtured,” he explained.
One of the committee members and skill test supervisors, Dr. Rury Eprilurahman, explained that the talent assessment tests are conducted according to a set schedule and in a proportional manner, taking into account each participant’s strength and achievement potential.
“This test is mandatory for all participants and forms a part of the overall evaluation component,” said Dr. Eprilurahman.
He further emphasized that the selection process is entirely free of charge.
Participants are divided according to their respective fields and guided to the test locations by Ahmad Yuana Putra.
The assessments are held at various venues depending on the field, under close supervision.
The test categories include a range of sports such as basketball, hockey, archery, golf, chess, football, equestrian, roller skating, kempo, diving, and e-sports.
In addition, assessments are also held for photography, dance, gymnastics, traditional Yogyakarta-style dance, karawitan (Javanese gamelan music), orchestra/music performance, vocal arts, theater, and religious performance competitions such as MTQ (Qur’an recitation), Pesparawi (Christian choir), and other religious contests.
