The Universitas Gadjah Mada Employees Corps (Korpagama) held a ceremony to present Certificates of Appreciation and Solidarity Funds to employees entering retirement. This regular event took place on Friday (March 27) at the Korpagama Office, B6 Bulaksumur, UGM Campus. On this occasion, Korpagama honored 20 UGM employees who reached retirement age in February 2026.
Among the 20 retirees were former Vocational College (SV UGM) lecturer Fahmy Radhi and former lecturer of Architecture and Planning Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM), Professor Sudaryono. In his remarks, Professor Sudaryono offered an analogy for the journey of service from the philosophical perspective of sangkan paraning dumadi (understanding the origin, purpose, and identity of life). Retirement was likened to dumadi (identity), where being part of UGM may serve as the sangkan (origin) for the next journey.
“In life, we never truly know what lies ahead. But what is certain is that sangkan will inevitably become dumadi because it has its paraning,” said Professor Sudaryono in a statement released by Korpagama on Monday (April 6).
He further stated that UGM employees have long been part of a significant historical moment, the making of Indonesia, since UGM itself was born out of the nation’s history. Many students who are now national leaders and agents of change owe their success to these educators.
“The first phase is complete, building Indonesia through our work. The next phase, although not through formal roles, can be carried out by using the charisma gained from UGM to develop humanity,” he added.

Korpagama Chairperson, Professor Achmadi Priyatmojo, expressed his gratitude to the lecturers and education staff who have completed their service for their dedication and contributions to UGM and Korpagama.
In line with Korpagama’s main mission of improving the welfare of UGM employees, he emphasized that the organization remains open to suggestions and input, particularly those aimed at enhancing employee welfare.
Professor Achmadi also encouraged retired employees to maintain informal connections at all times, preserving bonds of friendship and communication even after leaving formal employment. He advised them to enjoy more time with family and the community while continuing to contribute meaningfully.
“We hope you can make the most of your time with your family and surrounding community,” he said.
