Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has strengthened its industry partnership network by signing a cooperation agreement with PT Saraswanti Indoland Development Tbk (SWID). The agreement was signed by UGM Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation, Danang Sri Hadmoko, and President Director of PT Saraswanti Indoland Development Tbk (SWID), Bogat Agus Riyono, at The Alana Yogyakarta Hotel and Convention Center.
This partnership marks a strategic step toward expanding collaboration between higher education and industry, particularly in human resource development, the commercialization of research outcomes, and the creation of direct benefits for the UGM academic community and alumni.
UGM Vice Rector Danang Sri Hadmoko expressed appreciation for the commitment of UGM alumni who now lead national companies and continue to contribute to their alma mater.
“Mr. Hari and Mr. Bogat are distinguished UGM alumni who have achieved remarkable success as entrepreneurs. The combination of expertise in agriculture and economics has produced extraordinary achievements. UGM hopes their contributions will continue to grow for the advancement of the university and society,” he said on Wednesday (Jun. 4).
According to Danang, the partnership extends beyond business interests and serves as a gateway to broader collaboration in sustainability and the circular economy.
“This cooperation is an initial step toward a more comprehensive collaboration, particularly in building a circular economy and sustainability ecosystem. UGM has numerous research outputs and innovations with strong commercialization potential that can generate broader benefits for society,” he said.
Through this partnership, various innovative food and agricultural products developed through UGM research will have the opportunity to enter the supply chains of the hospitality and property sectors managed by SWID. The utilization of these research outcomes is expected not only to support industry needs but also to strengthen the university’s innovation commercialization ecosystem.

In addition to supporting research commercialization, the partnership strengthens connections between UGM and the professional world. SWID is opening opportunities for UGM graduates to pursue careers across the company’s business sectors, including property, hospitality, and other business development areas. This collaboration aligns with UGM’s commitment to producing graduates who excel academically and are prepared to contribute to national development through various industries.
Going forward, UGM hopes the partnership with SWID will develop into a range of concrete programs that provide mutual benefits, from strengthening education, research, and community service to enhancing the welfare of the academic community and alumni. Through synergy between higher education and industry, UGM continues to promote impactful innovation and strengthen the university’s role as a strategic partner in sustainable development.
President Director of SWID Bogat Agus Riyono, who also serves as Vice Chairman of KAFEGAMA, stated that in today’s digital era, SWID intends to leverage this collaboration to support human resource transformation through a managerial recruitment program. According to him, SWID’s future is inseparable from technological advancements that young professionals can more readily master.
“As an educational institution that produces highly competent graduates, UGM is a valuable source of talent to fulfill SWID’s managerial needs,” he said.
Through this partnership, Riyono said that UGM and SWID will explore various collaborative opportunities, including the utilization of UGM research and innovation products to support hospitality and property services within SWID’s business network.
“This cooperation also opens broader opportunities for UGM alumni to build careers and contribute within the company,” he said.
One of the key points of the agreement is SWID’s commitment to supporting education through a scholarship program. The company will allocate 1 percent of every property unit purchase transaction to the use of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) facilities across SWID’s business network.
“The funds will be collected and distributed periodically to support scholarship programs,” he explained.
In addition, UGM students, lecturers, educational staff, their immediate family members, and alumni will receive special benefits in the form of discounts on hotel services and residential property ownership within SWID’s business network.
