Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) students stood out at this year’s Yogyakarta Provincial Student Arts Festival (Peksimiprov DIY), taking home eight awards. The event, which ran from June 18 to July 2, 2026, gathered university students from across the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), offering them a stage to compete and express their creativity in a range of artistic fields.
This year, UGM not only commemorated outstanding achievements by its students but also hosted two competition categories: Poetry Reading, held at the Biology UGM Auditorium, and Monologue, hosted at the Kamarijani Soenjoto Auditorium, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP UGM), on June 27, 2026. The 2026 Peksimiprov DIY, with Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta serving as the main host, also functioned as the official selection event to determine the DIY’s representatives for the 18th National Student Arts Festival (Peksiminas) in 2026.
The UGM contingent gave an impressive performance, bringing home eight awards across multiple competition categories. Two first-place titles were won by Flannery Angela Eirene Beatricia Waoma in the Monologue category and Gabriella Erra Evangelista in Short Story Writing. Meanwhile, Muhammad Sheva Athaya won second place in Poetry Writing, Dendi Alseptayendo secured second place in the Male Dangdut Singing category, and Sofie Novindri P. earned second place in Female Pop Singing.
UGM’s achievements were further strengthened by Yosia Arvando Rega Winanza, who won third place in Male Seriosa Singing. The Vocal Group team, consisting of Jevan Nathaniel Malau, Widyadhari Tara Jagaddhita, Jaimie Wahab, Rachel Aleya Andriana, Lutfina Nuri Fahmida, Damar Madya Prasetya, Muhammad Humam Rafi’i, Caren Monica Simatupang, Febryantama Panji Christiawan, and Muhammad Al Hazmi Kynan Sutanto, secured third place in the Vocal Group category, and Cantik Djatoek Fadillah received third place in Poster Design.

UGM Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Hempri Suyatna, said the contingent’s success in winning eight awards at the 2026 Peksimiprov DIY reflects the university’s consistent devotion to nurturing students’ interests, talents, and creativity in the arts.
“This achievement not only highlights the diversity of artistic talents among UGM students but also proves that continuous mentoring and development can produce highly competitive results at the provincial level,” said Dr. Suyatna on Tuesday (Jul. 7).
Dr. Suyatna added that the award-winning students will go on to represent the Special Region of Yogyakarta at the 18th National Student Arts Festival (Peksiminas) in 2026, carrying the names of both UGM and the province onto the national stage. These accomplishments reaffirm UGM’s pledge to supporting students’ holistic development, not only through academic excellence but also through achievements in the arts, culture, and creativity.
