Ballon release has become one of the traditions during UGM Anniversary celebration. Not merely for ceremonial events, balloons are released to bring luck to the person who found it. This time, the prize is received by a married couple who reside in Sedayu District, Bantul regency.
Two series of balloons were released at the opening ceremony of the 67th UGM Anniversary, Friday (16/9). After a few hours, one of them was found at the house of Rini and Kelik.
Rini told how she found the balloon caught in a tree on her yard. Initially, she did not know that the balloons has a prize, but she lowered the balloons to see the content.
“I just finished Zuhr prayer when I went out and saw balloons caught in the palm tree that have been somewhat deflated, stuck in a palm tree. Out of curiosity, I took the balloon using punting pole,” said Rini, accompanied by her husband when she received the prize on Monday (19/9) at UGM Central Office.
She claimed to have never heard of balloons with prizes released at the Anniversary of UGM. Therefore, she never would have thought that the balloon will bring sustenance to her and her husband.
“Maybe it is destiny that the balloon fell on my house. I accidentally found it, it turned out to be a prize,” she said.
After finding the message stating that the balloon can be handed over in exchange of a prize, she immediately went to UGM together with her husband the next day. However, she was only able to get the prize when she came back on Monday.
She also conveyed her gratitude when receiving prizes awarded by representatives of UGM. She also sent a prayer for UGM which celebrates its 67th anniversary to be better.
