Tahir Foundation Graduate Programme Building is Officiated

Universitas Gadjah Mada's (UGM) Tahir Foundation graduate programme building in Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing was officiated today.

A ceremony marking the event was done by Rector of UGM, Prof.Ir. Panut Mulyono , M.Eng., D.Eng., Chairman of Tahir Foundation, Prof. Dr. Tahir, MBA, and Chair of UGM Board of Trustees, Prof.Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc.Sc., on Thursday (1/3), by cutting the ribbon at Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM. It was witnessed by Director General for Science and Technology Resources, Prof. Ali Ghufron Mukti, and Dean of the Faculty, Prof.dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Sp.OG(K). The building is funded by grants from Tahir Foundation.

Rector of UGM appreciated Tahir Foundation for the construction of the graduate school building of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing . He hope the new building would make graduate learning more advanced.

“UGM carries the mandate to make graduate learning as the backbone of research so the new building is expected to be able to boost research and publication and productivity at the Faculty and produce solution to tropical disease issue,” he said.

Tahir emphasised the importance of improving academic and graduate quality for universities. Hence, he hoped the new building would support the development of education and research of the Faculty.

“Hopefully, we can continue to establish cooperation for community services,” he said.

Dean of the Faculty, Ova Emilia, said the new building of graduate programme medical was built with the grants from Tahir Foundation worth 100 billion. Measuring 9,760,032 square meter in size, it consists of two towers that each has 8 floors and 1 basement, installed with a skybridge on the third and fourth floor.

“The building was built with the concept of smart building for graduate students in 6 master study programme, 20 specialist study programme, and 1 doctoral programme,” she explained.

The building is constructed under good and environmentally friendly infrastructure and technology; it uses solar panels energy to minimise electricity. It has smart classroom, sport facilities and green open space for social activities of the students.

“We hope the new building may be the door to healthy academic change, which is able to generate graduates that have characters and are qualified in giving health services,” she expressed her hopes.
