Student health unit (UKESMA) of Universitas Gadjah Mada organizes another blood donation event on the campus.
This blood donation event is an annual program to raise awareness of the needs of blood for the people in need. UKESMA also held the event to commemorate its 33rd anniversary.
“This event lasted from Wednesday, 2 May 2018 until Friday, 4 May 2018 throughout the UGM compound,” informed the Head of UKESMA UGM, Arvin Kresnaufal, in a press release on Friday (5/11).
Some of the locations are UGM Central Library, Hallway of Faculty of Agriculture, Hallway of Faculty of Engineering Headquarter, and Hallway of Veterinary Health, Vocational School. The activity was held from 08.00 am to 02.00 pm and received positive responses from all of UGM academic community. “There are a total of 670 blood donors,” he stated.
Arvin hoped that this event can be a solution to the deficiency of blood bags in Yogyakarta, as well as to raise people’s awareness of the importance of blood donation for the people in need.
Committee of the event, Desta, conveyed this blood donation event is a part of the work program of Community Service Division of UGM Student Health Unit batch 2018. The event was held in collaboration with Technical Implementing Service Unit of Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Indonesian Red Cross Society of Sleman, Indonesian Red Cross Society of Kulonprogo, Indonesian Red Cross Society of Yogyakarta, as well as Indonesian Red Cross Society of Bantul.
“In three days, this blood donation event collected 380 blood bags, exceeding the initial target of 250 bags. We hope that this activity is useful for the community and continue to grow in the future,” Desta concluded.
