A total of 1,700 runners participated in the UGM Trail Run 2024, held in the Mount Merapi National Park on October 5-6, 2024, under the theme “Run, Edu, Care.” The participants were divided into four categories: 7K, 15K, 25K, and 50K distances.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Arie Sujito, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, emphasized the importance of maintaining physical and mental health and caring for the environment.
This event was a running competition and a platform to educate participants and the public on the significance of environmental awareness.
“I believe this event is beneficial for our physical and mental well-being, with an emphasis on education and environmental care. It will be an energy boost for UGM and KAGAMA,” Dr. Sujito stated.
With its focus on education and care, the UGM Trail Run 2024 aimed to create a meaningful experience for the participants while encouraging the broader community to be more aware of nature and their health.
“We also encourage the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle through exercise,” he added.
The UGM Trail Run 2024 was a collaboration between UGM and KAGAMA Lari untuk Berbagi (KLUB) as part of UGM’s 75th anniversary and 15th lustrum celebrations, making the event even more special for the university community and the participants involved.
With total prizes reaching tens of millions of rupiah, the UGM Trail Run 2024 not only provided incentives for participants but also inspired more people to raise awareness of health and environmental issues.
