The Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems, UGM Faculty of Agricultural Technology (DTPB FTP), collaborated with Bantul Regional Government in accelerating the development of Agro-tourism of Nawungan Orchard located in Selopamioro Village, Imogiri, Bantul, Yogyakarta.

The agro-tourism of Nawungan Fruit Garden was established in 2013. Various fruit seeds are cultivated in this 35-hectare land, various fruit seeds such as durian, avocado, rambutan, longan, and soursop. Throughout the agroforestry system, food crops such as upland rice, maize, and peanuts are planted among fruit trees. Meanwhile, woody plants, namely teak, and rosewood are cultivated at the land border.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, M.Eng, as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems UGM FTP, said that the Nawungan fruit garden's development aims to boost the economy and welfare of Selopamioro residents. Moreover, there is also an orchard managed by two farmers of Nawungan hamlet.

"Since 2015, supports have been provided to fruit farmer groups to increase the capacity of fruit crop cultivation by the Department of Food Agriculture, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and UGM FTP DTPB," he said.

Moreover, Lilik also admitted that his party had supported the Selopamioro residents since 2015 within the scheme of community service. Furthermore, in 2019 DTPB FTP UGM collaborated with Yanmar Environment Sustainable Support Association (YESSA) Japan to develop "Agri-environmental Edu Techno Park". The activities focused on developing eco-friendly agricultural technology-based tourism in Bantul Regency, especially in the Selopamioro and Sriharjo Villages, Imogiri District.

In an attempt to accelerate the development of the Nawungan orchard, UGM FTP and the Bantul Regional Government representatives organized a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of Bantul Regency with a topic focus on the Premium Program of Nawungan Selopamioro - Imogiri Orchard on January 27, 2021. The coordination meeting was a form of subsequential step to the FDG that was organized in December 2020. In that opportunity, Lilik delivered a presentation regarding the concept of Smart Integrated Agrotourism for Integrated Agro-tourism Development in Selopamioro Bantul.
