Faculty of Geography UGM will always play a role in Education and Research related to environmental issues, regional resources and technological development.
These are efforts to establish prosperous society. This statement was delivered by The Dean of Faculty of Geography, UGM, Prof. Dr. Suratman, M. Sc., at the 46th Anniversary of the Faculty, Tuesday (1/9).
“As Indonesia’s forefront, we should always dedicate ourselves through Education by showing the real role,†he said. Suratman said although it is the 46th anniversary, the Faculty of Geography still has several unfinished academic problems, such as the non-optimum internationalization process and non-ideal period of study. The academic activities in 2009, however, ran more dynamically in gaining quality and quantity. Related to these, the academic policy that will be taken in the future are to widen the link with international universities, to conduct systematic quality assurance to guarantee continual accreditation and develop academic management based on ISO 9001- 2008. The spirit to become World Class Research University also inspires academic staff in the Faculty to create Research, Seminar and publication climate.
Meanwhile, this year several students were awarded either national or international achievements, such as the silver medal in PIMNAS 2009, participation in the ASEAN University Student Conference and Full Scholarship from the Belgrade Summer School. Besides five teams from the Faculty of Geography were also granted Entrepreneurship grant by DIKTI.
