Bulaksumur (KU) - As one of concerns for survivors of Mount Merapi eruptions, Official Corps of Staff from Universitas Gadjah Mada (Korpagama) slaughtered one cow to be distributed for Internally Displaced Persons who are now staying in IDP camp at UGM Student Center. Uniquely, the meat was not given raw but already cooked and delivered in rice boxes. "We will distribute the alreay cooked meat in rice boxes, so it doesn’t trouble the IDPs," said Korpagama Chairman, Prof. Dr. Ir. Susamto Somowiyarjo, M.Sc., on Tuesday (16/ 11), met in the slaughterhouse of Faculty of Animal Sciences.

Although already slaughtered and cut into small pieces, the meat is not handed over on the same day, but kept frozen in UGM laboratory, because within 1-3 days, there is much meat already delivered to the IDP camps. "We try to deliver the meat effectively to IDP camps which have not received much aid," he said.

Dra. Suwarsilah, Korpagama Secretary, said that the meat will be made into different cuisines, such as tongseng and kicik. "We invite female members of Korpagama to cook the meat for thousands of rice boxes," she explained.

This cow is the animal sacrificed during the Eid al-Adha Islamic holiday by Prof. Dr. dr. Hardyanto Soebono, dr. Sunardi Radiono, Drs. Djoko Dwiyanto, M. Hum., Sigit Riyanto, SH, Ir. Sri Sudaryati, M.S., Captain H. Sutarman, and Elfi Wachid Nurrahman.
