UGM Academic Hospital together with Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Yogyakarta, PMI Sleman and Gadjah Mada Medical Center (GMC) have agreed to establish cooperation in the service and processing of blood and medical check-up service for civil servants at UGM. The cooperation agreement for Blood Transfusion Services for Patients at UGM academic Hospital was signed by the Hospital Director, Prof. dr. Faisal Arif., Sp.Rad (K)., DHSM, and PMI Sleman Director, dr. H. Sunartono, Kes.

The event was continued by the signing of cooperation in Reimbursement for Blood Processing by the Hospital Director and PMI Yogyakarta Director, Prof. Dr. dr. KRT. Adi Heru Husodo, M.Sc., DCN., DLSHTM., PKK, while the signing of cooperation in Medical Check Up Services for UGM civil servants is conducted by UGM Academic Hospital Director and Director of GMC Health Center, Dr. drg. Julita Hendrartini, M.Kes.

"The cooperation between PMI Yogyakarta, PMI Sleman and GMC is step that must be done by UGM Hospital to serve the community. We realize that the blood is very important, a drop of blood is very important to us," Arif Faisal said in his speech at the UGM RSA on Saturday (30/6).

Faisal said the cooperation with PMI is a formal step that has to be done. PMI becomes the target of cooperation because UGM RSA needs to support the operation of the hospital in order to be able to run properly. "The GMC is like our sibling. All the activities we do should be more coherent, which one is done by GMC and which one is done by UGM RSA, and which one can be done jointly," he said.

He added that since its soft launching, UGM RSA has served over 800 patients, more than 200 patients in emergency and 23 surgeries. The data from March to June recorded that UGM RSA serves 8-10 patients per day.

In the event of MoU signing, the first blood donation was also conducted, which is followed by 20 donors. Faisal Arif hoped that UGM RSA would regularly conduct - at least 3-4 times a year - blood donation to help people in need. "We look forward to the opening of this hospital, it will provide aid and medical assistance to local communities and society in Yogyakarta," Faisal added.

Prof. Dr. Retno Sunarminingsih, M.Sc., Apt welcomed the cooperation and blood donation. As the hospital is located in the northern ring road, RSA becomes a point of reference when traffic accidents occur. "Therefore, after the outpatient polyclinic, UGM RSA directly cooperated with Yogyakarta Police. Now that UGM RSA has collaborated with PMI, we have hopes, starting with blood donor," she said.
