According to Professor Pratikno, collective efforts played a crucial role in maintaining the university’s stability and progress throughout his tenure. He appreciated all parties who contributed to the Board’s work over the past five years. “We express our appreciation for the accomplishments achieved by the previous Board of Trustees in supporting UGM’s progress,” he said.
Professor Tumiran added that the facilities and infrastructure already developed should continue to be optimized to support improvements in learning quality and student development. The university must ensure that all available resources provide maximum benefit to the UGM community. Good governance requires open communication and support from all stakeholders. Therefore, the Board will continue to provide opportunities for discussion and input in carrying out its duties and functions.
“The Board of Trustees would be meaningless without the support of the academic community. Synergy and collaboration are the keys to advancing UGM even further,” he stressed.
This leadership handover marks the beginning of the 2026-2031 term of the UGM Board of Trustees. Previously, 16 members of the Board for the 2026-2031 period were appointed through a Special Plenary Meeting of the UGM Academic Senate in April 2026. The selected members represent various groups, including public figures, alumni, professors, non-professorial faculty members, students, and educational support staff. This diversity is expected to strengthen the Board’s function as a university governing body responsible for establishing general policies and overseeing university administration.
With its new leadership, the UGM Board of Trustees is expected to continue guiding the university’s transformation and development in addressing future challenges.
