Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is committed to becoming a world-class, healthy campus. This commitment began in 2019 by promoting the Health Promoting University (HPU) program and organizing various activities to foster healthy behaviors within the academic community.
The ASEAN University Network-Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) visitation on Friday, Mar. 14, 2025, marked one of UGM’s efforts to collaborate with external parties to assess the quality management of health and wellness services.
This external evaluation highlights UGM’s dedication to ensuring its campus members’ safety, comfort, and health.
The AUN-HPN team visited several facilities, including the Sehati Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM), the Gadjah Mada Medical Center (GMC UGM), and waste management at the Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM).
The waste management practices at FT UGM were noted as a positive example that could be shared with other departments.
“This innovation is necessary to address waste management issues,” said Dr. Andreasta Meliala, MD, Head of UGM’s Integrated Health Services Bureau (BPKT UGM), on Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2025.
During the visit to FK-KMK UGM’s clinic, discussions also touched on the importance of House Inahealth, a university-developed health platform.
At GMC UGM, the team reviewed the campus healthcare facilities.
“Sehati Clinic, GMC UGM, the psychology health unit, and other healthcare facilities provide direct services to the UGM community. These facilities offer easy access and maintain high standards to ensure quality,” Dr. Meliala explained.
The team also visited UGM’s Disability Service Unit (ULD UGM).
According to Professor Yayi Suryo Prabandari, Chair of HPU UGM, ULD UGM provides services to students, lecturers, and special-needs staff.
“ULD UGM’s purpose is to ensure that students face no barriers in their academic journey, making their feedback essential,” she said.
Professor Prabandari emphasized that the AUN-HPN campus health assessment further strengthens UGM’s commitment to promoting a healthy, inclusive, and environmentally friendly campus.
“As an inclusive campus, UGM ensures everyone can study here. UGM not only focuses on education and learning but also the health of its community,” she added.
