Diasma Sandi Swandaru, a member of the 2021 cohort in the UGM National Resilience Science Doctoral Program, has achieved notable success in his academic journey.
Having completed all theoretical coursework, he is currently immersed in his dissertation “Revitalizing Mutual Cooperation Values in Confronting the COVID-19 Pandemic to Foster Community Resilience.”
In the early stages of the 2021 academic year, Swandaru clinched the Outstanding Student Scholarship bestowed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Additionally, he attained a stellar GPA of 4.0 in the fifth semester, solidifying his position as one of the top-performing students in the study program.
In early 2024, Swandaru again showcased his academic achievements by securing the Megawati Fellowship scholarship. Aligned with the theme of his dissertation, the Megawati Fellowship program delves into the study of former president Soekarno’s ideologies and their contemporary relevance.
Agnes Purbasari, a lecturer at the University of Indonesia and one of the competition assessors, highlighted the significance of Swandaru’s research topic, which explores the application of cooperation values in the 21st century, particularly amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. A. Sonny Keraf, the executor of the Megawati Fellowship program, underscored the need to foster a profound understanding of knowledge and research among young scholars, especially in dissecting the ideologies of Soekarno and other founding figures of the nation.
“It’s crucial to comprehend that politics transcends mere elections; it’s intricately linked to substantive elements such as ideology and national aspirations for progress across various domains,” he remarked.
With this remarkable achievement, Swandaru joins the ranks of 11 recipients of the Megawati Fellowship, comprising five master’s students and six doctoral candidates. He aspires to leverage this research scholarship to propel his doctoral pursuits and ultimately contribute inspiration and positive impact to the broader community.
