Bangkit Setiyoko, a Faculty of Animal Science student at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), won a gold medal in the creative essay category at the Indonesian Livestock Science Conference 2024.
This competition was held from Sep. 1 to 5 in conjunction with the 41st Dies Natalis of ISMAPETI at Universitas Islam Malang, East Java.
Setiyoko earned the award with his essay titled “NutrisionCheck: Instant Monitoring Innovation of Livestock Feed Quality Based on Near-Infrared, Artificial Intelligence, and IoT to Support National Food Security.”
Through his work, he harnessed technology to foster positive change in the livestock sector, creating significant social impact in support of national food security.
“In the essay, I expressed ideas to encourage innovation, collaboration, and self-development to achieve the envisioned progress in the livestock industry, especially in the era of Society 5.0,” said Setiyoko on Wednesday (Sep. 18).
He explained how advancing technology can be a pivotal force contributing to national food security. His essay, written in a clear and straightforward style, outlines concrete steps to be effective change agents in addressing the challenges of climate change, particularly in livestock.
“My success not only brings pride to myself but also to my family and university,” he stated.
As the organizer, Setiyoko added that Universitas Islam Malang is proud to have participants demonstrating commitment and deep thinking in responding to current livestock industry challenges.
With this achievement, he hopes to motivate other students to participate in similar competitions and continue their development.
With this accomplishment, Setiyoko brings honor to UGM’s Faculty of Animal Science and inspires the younger generation to innovate in livestock and food security in Indonesia.
