
The UGM Faculty of Animal Science is exploring a collaboration with the Indonesian Butchers Network, an organization that supports business actors and professionals in the field of halal animal slaughter.
The partnership is expected to enhance the quality of human resources in the halal meat processing sector.
“We welcome this collaboration initiative and hope that joint activities between the Faculty of Animal Science and JJI can be realized,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Professor Budi Guntoro, in a press release on Tuesday (Apr. 22).
Professor Yuny Erwanto, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration; Dr. Cuk Tri Noviandi and Dr. Endy Triyannanto from the Faculty of Animal Science; and representatives from JJI were also present at the meeting.
During the visit, an initial discussion was held on potential collaborative programs. According to the dean, the delegation from the Indonesian Butchers Network responded positively to the proposed collaboration.
They expressed enthusiasm to contribute, believing the partnership would bring mutual benefits.
“We aim to enhance education and improve halal slaughter standards in Indonesia,” said Professor Guntoro.
The dean further hoped that this collaboration would allow both parties to contribute to the development of knowledge, enhancement of student skills, and overall advancement of the livestock and halal slaughter sector in Indonesia.
