A total of 20,615 participants are taking the national university entrance test (UTBK-SNBT) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held from Apr. 23 to May 2, 2025. This year’s number of participants has increased by 10% compared to last year’s total of 18,726.
The UTBK coordinator at UGM, Professor Ridi Ferdiana, stated that among the 20,615 participants taking the exam on the UGM campus, four are persons with disabilities: three with hearing impairments and one with a physical disability.
The participants with hearing impairments will take the test on Apr. 26, while the participant with a physical disability is scheduled for Apr. 29.
“We have prepared UTBK facilities for participants with disabilities to ensure they can take the test comfortably in the Computer Lab at the UGM Library and Archives,” said Professor Ferdiana in a press release sent to journalists on Thursday (Apr. 24).
On the first day of UTBK, Professor Ferdiana explained that 2,644 out of 2,744 registered participants attended.
“1,300 were present in the morning session, and 1,344 attended the afternoon session. There were 72 absentees in the morning and 28 in the afternoon,” he added.
Sarwono, the Room Supervisor for UTBK on the 5th Floor of UGM’s Library and Archives, said the first day of the test went smoothly, although two participants were unable to attend.
“Out of 80 registered participants, two were absent,” he reported.
One of the participants, Frida, who completed her test in the first session, shared that the UTBK process went smoothly for her. She was grateful to feel confident with the test materials. The student from Sleman said she had been preparing herself well in advance to succeed in the selection.
“I’ve been preparing for a year,” she said.
Frida mentioned that she intentionally chose to take the UTBK on the first day, believing that the earlier the test, the better. However, she admitted to feeling slightly nervous at the beginning of the exam.
“I was anxious, my hands trembled, felt cold… all sorts of thoughts were going through my head,” she said with a light laugh.
As previously announced, UTBK participants at UGM are spread across 13 test locations: the Faculties of Economics and Business, Pharmacy, Law, Cultural Sciences, Dentistry, Psychology, Engineering Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Mathematics and Natural Sciences; the Library and Archives; and the Vocational College.
The exam is divided into two sessions each day. The first session runs from 06:45 AM to 10:30 AM WIB, and the second from 12:30 PM to 4:15 PM WIB. The subjects tested include the Scholastic Potential Test, Literacy in Indonesian and English, and Mathematical Reasoning.
