UGM very much supports its students’ and staffs’ initiative on entrepreneurship. The statement was given by UGM’s Senior Deputy Rector for Administration, Finance, and Human Resource Prof. Ainun Nai’m, Ph.D., when opening a seminar called “Student Entrepreneurship is National Welfareâ€, Tuesday (11/8) at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), UGM and at the same time opening the Gadjah Mada Entrepreneurship Center. “Entrepreneurship, especially the youth based one, is very significant for realizing the welfare of this nation,†he said.
Gadjah Mada Enterpreneurship Center is founded as a manifestation of UGM’s support on students’ development in entrepreneurship. Na’im says that becoming an entrepreneur needs more than a good hard skill, it also covers soft skill. “We hope that in the future our students will be able to be the successors of globalized companies’ entrepreneurs,†he said.
Besides the seminar, there was also exhibition of student business products. The business was assisted by UGM Student Entrepreneurship 2009. creative products were showed, among them are Blue Taro Snack Organic (made of taro), Nata de Cassava (made of unused material of starch), convection, and digital printing.
