At least 30 public intellectuals from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines consisted in the Asian Public Intellectuals (API) fellowship which is sponsored by the Tokyo-based Nippon Foundation, Japan will present at the 7th annual workshop in Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta on 22-26 November 2008.
The head of Public Relations and Protocols of UGM Suryo Baskoro MS on Friday (21/11) explained that the workshop took “Asian Alternatives for a Sustainable world: Trans-border Engagement in Knowledge Formation†as its theme. The Yogyakarta’s Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X will open the workshop.
He also added that besides the workshop, there will be a launching of API Regional Project on 22 November. It the project entitled “Community-based Initiatives for Human Ecological Balanceâ€, these intellectuals will be mediators who will unite people from various area in various countries, such as Kalicode of Indonesia, Biwa-ko of Japan, Tasik chini of Malaysia, Khiriwong of Thailand and Batnes of Philippines.
