As many as 29 researchers in the field of thermal and fluid sciences from Indonesia and Japan discuss the results of their research in the National Seminar and Exhibition of "Thermofluid" Gas Technology at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (JTMI), Faculty of Engineering, on Tuesday (4/10). The Seminar presented four keynote speakers, namely the Head of Sub-directorate for Regional Development of Conventional Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy, Dr. Ir. Naryanto Wagimin, M.Si., Head of Facilitation of Energy Policy and the National Energy Board, Ir. Chairman of the JTMI Department, Dr. Ir. Waziz Wildan, M.Sc., in his speech stressed the importance of this kind of event to strengthen the communications of government, universities, and industry to find joint solutions for energy problems today, particularly in the development of thermal and fluid sciences. "Almost all industries, ranging from food, automotive up to mining use the thermal and fluid sciences partially or completely in the industry process," he said.

Wildan added that along with the increasingly fierce industry competition resulting the engineers and scientists to have to go the extra miles to complete the combined thermal and fluid problems which are increasingly complex, in addition to the need for natural gas which  also increased. "The increasing need also demands the government and industry to be able to utilize natural gas as maximum and efficiently as possible," he said.

Committee Chairman, Dr. Fauzun, S.T, M.T, said Thermofluid 2011 presents dissemination of 29 research results from the best researchers in the field of thermal and fluid. Simultaneously, the exhibition also showed the latest gas technology products through the technology exhibition forum. Gas technology exhibition presented best works of the UGM students, which are Semar, the energy efficient car, Bima Sakti, Formula 1 car, and Garuda, the student’s robot.
