Thirty students from various countries around the world are learning about social entrepreneurship during the Global Summer Week (GSW) 2024, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM).
These international students hail from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, and countries in the ASEAN and Scandinavian regions.
Fifty-six students from various universities across Indonesia will also participate in Global Summer Week (GSW) 2024. GSW spans 11 days from July 15 to 25, 2024, and is themed “Sustainable Futures: Igniting Change through Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”
Dean of FEB UGM, Professor Didi Achjari, warmly welcomed all GSW 2024 participants.
He noted that the GSW 2024 forum is not only a gathering of students from different countries brimming with brilliant ideas but also a collaboration between FEB UGM, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, and the University of Groningen (UG) Netherlands.
“The partnership between NTU and UG is a testament to the strength of international collaboration in creating a diverse learning and innovation environment. This year’s GSW theme, “Sustainable Futures: Igniting Change through Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” reflects an urgent need,” he said at the FEB UGM Learning Center on Monday, Jul. 15, 2024, during the opening of GSW 2024.
Professor Achjari said this theme invites everyone to utilize their skills, knowledge, and passion to create a sustainable future.
He mentioned that GSW allows all participating students to interact, exchange ideas, and collaborate on various projects to address societal challenges.
Therefore, he urged the participants to fully take advantage of this opportunity to share ideas, learn from each other, and be inspired to spark positive change in the future.
“Thank you for joining us in Global Summer Week 2024. I hope you all have an inspiring and productive experience. Let us ignite change and pave the way for a sustainable future,” he said.
Global Summer Week is an annual event organized by FEB UGM. It is a two-week short-term summer learning program.
This program, which has been held since 2014 under International Week (iWeek), focuses on various current global issues.
The GSW program includes several activities, including executive talks, lectures, field visits, social entrepreneurship projects, and cultural activities.
For students, the GSW program is equivalent to 3 credits (5 ECTS) per activity, with all activities conducted in Yogyakarta.
