The Alumni Family of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAFEGAMA) has distributed humanitarian assistance worth IDR 200 million to communities affected by floods and landslides in West Sumatra Province. The donation was evenly allocated to four affected areas, such as Padang City, Tanah Datar Regency, Agam Regency, and Pesisir Selatan Regency, as a rapid response to the disaster.
Executive Secretary of the KAFEGAMA Central Executive Board, Vicky Yuwandy, explained that the initiative was carried out under the direction of KAFEGAMA Chairperson Dr. Friderica Widyasari Dewi to provide direct support to affected communities. He noted that each region received an allocation of approximately IDR 50 million.
“We are present based on the chairperson’s directive to oversee and directly distribute aid to evacuation posts,” said Yuwandy.
Donation distribution began on 15 December 2025 in Padang City, where the assistance was handed over to Padang Mayor Fadly Amran.
The aid consisted of post-disaster essential packages, including complete cooking equipment such as a gas stove set, a 3 kg gas cylinder, and other kitchen supplies urgently needed by residents whose homes were lost or severely damaged.

The distribution continued on 16 December 2025 to Tanah Datar Regency, where the aid was received by Regent Eka Putra and supported by technical coordination with the Vice Regent to ensure that assistance reached the community directly.
The distribution series then moved to Pesisir Selatan Regency on December 17 and concluded in Agam Regency on December 18, 2025.
KAFEGAMA plans to extend this social action until December 20, 2025, to other regions, such as North Sumatra and Aceh, in collaboration with local alumni boards, with the hope that alumni involvement can support post-disaster recovery efforts.
Chair of the KAFEGAMA Regional Board of West Sumatra, Professor Fery Andrianus, expressed appreciation for the swift response of the alumni network in helping to ease the burden of communities in Ranah Minang.
Professor Andrianus emphasised the importance of alumni synergy to ensure aid reaches the right recipients.
He stated that KAFEGAMA’s presence is not merely about providing material assistance, but also about offering moral support and a sense of familial solidarity to communities in West Sumatra facing adversity.
“We at KAFEGAMA West Sumatra feel responsible for ensuring that the trust placed by fellow alumni across Indonesia reaches those who need it most,” he remarked.
Mayor of Padang Fadly Amran expressed his gratitude and explained that the assistance provided is highly beneficial for residents currently living in temporary shelters and apartment blocks, who have lost their homes and household equipment due to the disaster.
“Considering that many residents have lost their homes and household items, this cooking equipment has become a priority so they can independently prepare their daily meals,” said Fadly.
