UGM, in tandem with state-owned enterprises (BUMN), hosted the BUMN Internship Fair 2023, spanning two days on Dec. 16-17, 2023, at the ASLC Building, Faculty of Animal Science.
This event served as a conduit for presenting exclusive internship prospects to UGM students with various premier state-owned companies. The internships are slated to unfold at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Arena (GIK) in 2024.
Professor Wening Udasmoro, the UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, highlighted that UGM’s collaboration with BUMN aims to fortify academic offerings through the MBKM BUMNxGIK UGM program.
This innovative program allows UGM students to partake in courses organized by state-owned enterprises and on-site internship placements at state companies.
“In this collaborative endeavor, we augment traditional classroom learning with lectures involving industries and partners, thereby enhancing the academic development of our students,” Professor Udasmoro articulated on Saturday (Dec. 16).
She emphasized that bringing state-owned enterprises and industries to UGM facilitates a direct correlation between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.
In the contemporary landscape, where students grapple with theoretical concepts and real-world applications, this approach aims to eliminate the transition awkwardness as students enter the workforce.
“We sincerely appreciate state-owned enterprises that have collaborated with UGM. Currently, there are two courses related to state-owned enterprises and industries. In the upcoming semester, UGM will offer approximately 26 courses, each inviting state-owned enterprises to provide lectures directly to UGM students,” the vice-rector elucidated.
Khansa Khalisa, the Head of Education at GIK, outlined that the two-day BUMN Fair allowed students to attend lectures and internships at state-owned enterprises. The overarching goal is to bolster the enhancement of UGM students’ soft and hard skills.
“A total of 28 courses are offered in this program through the collaboration of 13 state-owned enterprises,” she announced.
The courses encompass digital it, human capital, partnership, strategic communication, banking operation, health promotion and disease prevention, biotechnology & pharmacy, among others.
The thirteen state-owned enterprises participating in this initiative include Pertamina, PLN, BRI, Mandiri, Telkom Indonesia, MIND.ID, KAI, Pelindo, Biofarma, BSO, Pupuk Indonesia, INKA, and Perhutani.
The MBKM BUMNxGIK UGM program comprises two main components. First is a one-month stint of classes at GIK for two credits, unfolding from Feb. 12 to Mar. 12, 2023. Subsequently, a 3-month on-site internship for 18 credits is slated to transpire from Mar. 13 to Jun. 14, 2024.
