The UGM Karate Student Activity Unit (UKM) has again demonstrated extraordinary international success. This time, the team won 12 gold medals at the Silent Knight Karate Cup 2024, held at Titiwangsa Stadium, Malaysia, from Mar. 8 to 10.
UGM Karate manager Afina Putri Kusumadewi proudly announced that the team clinched 12 medals across various competition categories, including five golds, four silvers, and three bronzes.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to our athletes’ dedication and hard work,” she stated Thursday (Mar. 14) at UGM.
Kusumadewi attributed the team’s success in the championship to the athletes’ meticulous preparations. They underwent intensive training starting in November 2023 under the expert guidance of Sensei Yuskar, Senpai Ari, Senpai Dika, Senpai David, and Senpai Aliffa.
“They underwent rigorous training schedules four times a week,” she elaborated.
Highlighting the immense efforts and commitment of UGM’s Karate athletes, Kusumadewi expressed her hopes for continued success in future championships, domestically and internationally.
