Universitas Gadjah Mada has admitted a total of 2,836 new students through the 2026 academic excellence-based entrance selection (SNBP), which was announced on Tuesday (March 31). Universitas Gadjah Mada remains one of the most sought-after public universities, with a high number of applicants competing for admission. A total of 29,456 applicants registered, of whom 2,836 were successfully admitted.
“This year, UGM admitted 2,836 students through the SNBP pathway,” said UGM Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, in a statement released to the press on Wednesday (April 1).
Professor Wening noted that several study programs recorded particularly high competition ratios. The Medicine program was the most competitive in the science and technology cluster, with an acceptance ratio of 1:37. Meanwhile, in the social sciences and humanities cluster, the Accounting program was the most competitive, with a ratio of 1:25.
“The level of competition in these two programs reflects the strong interest among prospective students in leading study programs, as well as the intense competition for admission,” she explained.
For applicants who were not admitted through the SNBP pathway, Professor Wening stated that Universitas Gadjah Mada has opened a total quota of 9,403 seats for prospective undergraduate and applied undergraduate students in 2026 through the university’s admission pathways, including SNBP, SNBT, and Independent Selection.
“In total, the number of new students admitted to undergraduate and applied undergraduate programs reaches 9,403,” she said.
Professor Wening explained that the proportion of new student admissions consists of 30% through the SNBP pathway, 30% through the National Entrance Fest (SNBT), and 40% through the Independent Selection.
In addition to regular admission pathways, UGM also offers the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).
“Through this pathway, UGM provides a quota of 1,221 students to be admitted via the IUP,” she added.
Professor Wening stated that applicants who are declared successful in the 2026 SNBP at UGM must complete the registration process in accordance with the established regulations. The registration process begins with accessing the official announcement and downloading the required document forms via the admissions.ugm.ac.id website.
Subsequently, participants are required to complete their personal data and upload the required documents online through simaster.ugm.id from April 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM (WIB) until April 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM (WIB).
Afterward, participants must wait for the document verification results and the determination of the Single Tuition Fee (UKT). Those who have received verification results are required to complete the UKT payment, followed by payment confirmation, completion of student data, and other administrative requirements, such as health insurance and student account activation.
“The final stage of registration is marked by the issuance of a registration confirmation as official proof of admission to UGM,” Professor Wening explained.

As reported, the National Selection for New Student Admission (SNPMB) recorded 806,242 SNBP applicants, an increase from the previous year. These applicants competed for 189,017 available seats across 146 public universities, including academic universities, vocational institutions, and State Islamic higher education institutions (PTKIN).
Within the academic university category, the number of applicants reached 774,263, competing for 162,116 seats. Of these, 155,543 applicants were admitted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 20.09 percent. The breakdown shows that 142,212 applicants were accepted into their first-choice programs, while 13,331 were accepted into their second-choice programs. Additionally, 53,897 admitted students were KIP Kuliah recipients, accounting for approximately 19.67 percent of the total admitted applicants. Meanwhile, in vocational institutions, 77,256 applicants competed for 26,929 seats, with 23,438 applicants admitted, yielding an acceptance rate of 30.34 percent.
The Chair of the 2026 SNPMB Steering Committee, Professor Eduart Wolok, expressed appreciation to all participants who took part in the SNBP selection process. He emphasized that the SNBP pathway is an achievement-based selection that prioritizes students’ academic track records during their schooling.
“We congratulate all participants who have been admitted through the 2026 SNBP pathway. This achievement reflects hard work and consistency throughout their education. For those who were not successful, there are still opportunities through the SNBT pathway,” he said.
He also reminded applicants that those admitted through SNBP are not allowed to participate in other admission pathways in the same year.
“Applicants who have been admitted through SNBP are not eligible to participate in SNBT or independent selection pathways. Therefore, we urge admitted students to promptly complete re-registration at their respective universities in accordance with the established schedule,” he emphasized.
