A total of 300 Palace servants (abdi dalem) in the palace of Yogyakarta obtains free oral and dental health care from Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Prof. Soedomo Dental and Oral Hospital. This takes place on Tuesday (20/12) in Ndalem Prabeya, held in the framework of commemoration of 6th Anniversary of the Hospital and the 64th Anniversary of UGM Faculty of Dentistry.
Hospital Director who is also chairman of the Anniversary committee, Dr. drg. Ahmad Syaify, Sp.Perio (K), explained that the free dental check up is a form of concern for the Yogyakarta’s Palace, specially servants who on average are elderly. This time RSGM fielded at least 35 dentists and two general practitioners.
"We also provide a special car, which resembles the dentist’s office. So, in the car the patient can get tooth removal and patching service like that at the dentist," he said.
Consultation services on all matters relating to teeth and mouth problem are also given. "Anything related to oral and dental problems can be consulted here, including dental implants," Syaify added.
General health checks are given. For equitable distribution of services, each person can only get one type of service. "Given the limited facilities and medical personnel, each person gets one type of service only. e.g., only tooth removal or patching or general check up,” he explained.
