Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and PT Elnusa Tbk have officially entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen synergy between industry and higher education, particularly in supporting talent development, enhancing the capacity of young professionals, and reinforcing practice-based learning that aligns with industry needs. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., and Elnusa Operations Director Andri Haribowo at the UGM Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Auditorium on Thursday (Jun. 4).
Representing the university, Professor Suherman, Secretary of the UGM Directorate of Partnerships and Global Relations, expressed appreciation for PT Elnusa Tbk’s trust in establishing a partnership with UGM, paving the way for the practical application of academic knowledge in the field. He emphasized that the collaboration should lead to productive, active follow-up programs, including cross-sector cooperation agreements.
“We believe today is not merely an MoU signing ceremony, but the beginning of more concrete forms of collaboration. UGM’s aspiration in building partnerships is to ensure they do not stop at the memorandum of understanding stage,” he said.

Professor Suherman further explained that opportunities for synergy are widely open to various interdisciplinary study programs at UGM. Through this partnership, he hopes to create broad opportunities across the entire spectrum of human resource development, including recruitment and student internships.
“Our faculty is home not only to Geophysics but also to Computer Science, Physics, and many other disciplines that are ready to collaborate in the future to create more productive partnerships. We hope this relationship will expand our network, from enhancing human resource competencies to exploring recruitment opportunities that remain widely open,” he explained.

Andri Haribowo reaffirmed Elnusa’s commitment to translating the memorandum of understanding into tangible, sustainable programs rather than allowing it to remain a mere ceremonial document.
“We hope this collaboration will not remain merely a memorandum of understanding on paper. God willing, many concrete programs can be implemented in the near future. In fact, several follow-up initiatives have already begun,” he said.
Haribowo further emphasized that Elnusa continually requires innovative, adaptive young talent to meet the industry’s future needs. These workforce opportunities are open to graduates from a wide range of disciplines at UGM to support the transformation to sustainable development.
“We highly value young talent as the next generation of leaders in this industry. Career and collaboration opportunities at Elnusa are open to graduates from all academic backgrounds. We hope this partnership will serve as a catalyst for developing future leaders who are innovative, adaptive, and globally competitive,” he concluded.
