Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and PT Infineon Technologies Batam have agreed to strengthen their collaboration in technology education and human resources development.
This agreement was highlighted during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday (Feb. 27) in the Leadership Meeting Room, UGM Central Office.
The MoU was signed by UGM’s Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, and Loh Jan Sing, Vice President of Backend Development at PT Infineon Technologies Batam.
During discussions between representatives of both parties, it was agreed that Infineon would support the development of industry-based curricula at UGM to ensure that the materials taught align with current industry needs and advancements.
Additionally, Infineon would welcome UGM graduates in accordance with the company’s recruitment procedures and provide students with opportunities to join through internship programs.
Professor Udasmoro stated that UGM is intensifying research programs in collaboration with the industry, strengthening UGM’s downstream processes.
As part of further support, UGM will also participate in continuing education programs for PT Infineon employees, offering them opportunities to develop further skills and knowledge.
“We will acknowledge industry-based learning programs for Infineon employees, allowing them to receive education that is relevant to industry needs,” she said.
In addition, Infineon will support the introduction of the industrial world to UGM teaching staff, enabling lecturers to better understand current developments and challenges in the industry.
“We hope that it’s not just the students who get the opportunity to ‘intern’ in the industry, but also the lecturers, especially the senior ones, so they can together review how the industry is developing,” said Professor Udasmoro.
Lastly, both parties agreed to collaborate on research and development projects related to engineering departments, resulting in innovations that benefit technological and industrial progress.
“The hope is that this university not only contributes but also receives input from the industry,” said the vice-rector.
Through this agreement, Loh Jan Sing hopes that the collaboration between UGM and PT Infineon will create mutually beneficial synergies, not only for students and lecturers but also for the industry, by producing graduates ready to contribute to technological advancements.
