Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a delegation from Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College (JSAHVC), China, to explore collaboration in higher education development and the livestock industry across ASEAN. The meeting marked an initial step toward strengthening international cooperation in animal husbandry, animal health, agro-industrial technology, and human resource development.
The visit was intended to introduce the “Project Construction Plan for the Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College-ASEAN College of Animal Husbandry Engineering Technology” and invite UGM to join it. The program is designed as an integrated educational platform connecting universities in ASEAN countries with the livestock industry through talent development, science and technology services, and cultural exchange.
Through collaboration with Indonesia Haida Agriculture Co., Ltd., JSAHVC seeks to build an education and industry ecosystem that addresses the development needs of the livestock sector across ASEAN. The program emphasizes the principles of resource sharing, complementary strengths, and collaborative development among higher education institutions.

JSAHVC Vice President, Jundong Liu, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by UGM to the delegation.
“Thank you for the exceptional hospitality. Although this is our first visit to UGM, the reception has been truly remarkable,” he said.
Liu explained that JSAHVC was established in 1958 and focuses on the development of animal husbandry, animal health, biomedicine, and veterinary pharmaceuticals.
“JSAHVC has extensive experience in vocational education development focused on livestock production, animal health, biomedicine, and veterinary medicine. We hope to build strong partnerships with UGM and other ASEAN universities to create a platform for education and innovation that delivers mutual benefits,” he said.
UGM Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, stated that UGM places significant emphasis on innovation development in the agro-industry, including the livestock sector.
“We welcome this collaboration initiative and hope to establish a productive partnership with JSAHVC. UGM currently has a strong focus on agro-industrial innovation, particularly in livestock production, which is one of the strategic sectors supporting food security,” he said.

According to Dr. Hadmoko, UGM continues to develop technologies that support greater productivity and efficiency in Indonesia’s livestock industry.
“UGM is currently working to meet livestock development needs independently. Going forward, we hope that various livestock technologies, including poultry processing and slaughtering technologies, can be jointly developed and integrated into educational programs at the Vocational College,” he said.
In addition to educational and technological development, the proposed collaboration is expected to create broader opportunities for students to gain industry experience through internship programs.
“We also see considerable potential to involve industry partners such as PT Haida in strengthening student internship programs so that students can gain direct experience in the international industrial sector,” he added.
Dr. Hadmoko said that through this collaboration, UGM and JSAHVC are expected to build a synergy that strengthens higher education development, applied research, livestock technology innovation, and human resource capacity building across the ASEAN region.
“This partnership is also part of UGM’s efforts to expand its international network while supporting the transformation of the livestock sector toward a more modern, sustainable, and science-based future,” he concluded.
